What's your SGE ratio?! (and how to find out)

Digital Marketing Insider (125): 2-26-24

Marketers love 2 things:

  • Metrics

  • Acronyms

It’s almost uncomfortable how many of each of those things we have.

So, to add to the heaping pile - I have a new one for you - one… worth caring about.

Your SGE Readiness Metric.

We’ve been shouting about SGE to anyone within earshot for months now and if you’re late to the party - go check out our recent webinar on the topic.

Now, if you’re ready to make some moves towards crushing your competitors by acquiring all the SGE slots you can handle - here’s a metric to get you started.

We use SEMrush to grab this - but you’d be able to nab it in MOZ as well.

SGE Readiness Calculation:

[total number of serp features ranked for] / [total number of non-brand keywords]

The key benchmark here? 10%

If that ratio is 10% or greater, we're seeing those websites rank in SGE much more often than those below.

So I’m curious… what’s your ratio?

Highest ratio gets a shout out next week!
