7 things to do this week that your competition wont

Digital Marketing Insider (136): 3-25-24

Normally, we keep our secrets close to the chest.

Can’t give away all the sauce, ya know?

But… giving out samples of said sauce, Costco style… that we can do.

So - below - are 7 hot tactics you can implement this week to:

  • Make your KPIs better

  • Add some spice to your marketing

  • Make yourself look like a certified genius proudly standing on a soapbox of performance marketing perfection pontificating into the eager and attentive crowd “look here, it is I who smashed this quarters goals! Long live Marketing!” - er, or something

In no particular order, here you go:

  1. Schema

    1. Find your top 10-15 blog posts, especially any that answer your audiences burning questions, and apply schema. Ideally blog, article, Q&A/FAQ formats

    2. Resubmit to search console, check rankings/traffic after a week

  2. Make your ad channels work together

    1. Go to Google ads

    2. Make audiences based on UTM combos from all your channels

      1. i.e. Audiences for utm_source=linkedin&utm_medium=cpc, utm_source=meta&utm_medium=cpc, utm_source=[wherever else you’re doing ads]&utm_medium=cpc

      2. Add those audiences to an RLSA campaign

        1. Bid aggressively on top terms (1-2x the bid or tCPA as your standard search)

  3. Qualify your leads (pre-SDR)

    1. Add a binary qualification field to your forms

      1. eg. “number of employees”, “do you want to work with us y/n?”, “tech stack”, etc.

    2. Measure and make optimization decisions on those answering ‘correctly’

    3. (shameless plug, we can automate this 👀)

  4. Easily rank for new keywords

    1. Search keywords you already rank for

    2. Jot down the questions listed in the ‘people also ask’ section of the SERP

    3. Write content specifically to answer those questions

    4. See #1 above

  5. Get extra conversions

    1. Add an offer to your thank you pages

    2. Something 1 funnel step deeper than what got them there

      1. Demo offer on a content TY page

      2. Content offer on a newsletter TY page

      3. etc.

  6. Save some money

    1. Go to Google ads

    2. Set date range to 90 days

    3. Filter for all keywords with 0 conversions and >$.01 in spend

    4. Pause them

    5. use funds to throw company wide pizza party (or, well whatever)

  7. Get ahead on SGE

    1. We’re running the SGE webinar back (with 9 brand new slides)

    2. We overbooked the first one by about… 150 people (whoops) and wanted to makes sure we got more in this time

    3. Register here, it’s Thursday, and yes - we’ll record it and send it to you if you can’t make it

Cheers,

Josh
